Building Blocks, Family Literacy Program

Child playing with blocks

Helping families create their own future

What is the Building Blocks Program?
Trained Literacy Builders go into the home to share ideas about reading and learning which gives parents the tools to help their children. This interactive program is designed for parents and/or caregivers of children ages 0 to 6.

What happens at home visits?
A trained Literacy Builder will provide parents with a variety of tools and strategies designed to assist in their child’s literacy development which may include games, books, rhymes, crafts and other age appropriate literacy building activities.

For more information call Sturgeon Literacy at 921-3589 and press extension 2 to reach Anitta at Family Literacy. (For those in the Sturgeon area where this is long distance, dial 413-9153 first.)

This program is offered by Sturgeon Adult Learning Council and funded through Alberta Advanced Education and Technology.
