Sturgeon Literacy

Sturgeon Literacy is a program operated under the Sturgeon Adult Learning Council.

Sturgeon Literacy provides one-on-one tutoring services for adults who wish to improve their literacy skills.

We can help you improve your basic skills such as: balancing a cheque book, figuring out the GST, writing, spelling, and reading.

Literacy empowers people

This service is confidential and free.

We provide materials and training for tutors. Commitment required is one and a half hours to two and a half hours per week. Phone for the next training session.

Sturgeon Literacy is funded through Alberta Learning. It would not be in existence without the dedication and committed support from its many partners.

Literacy skills are like muscles. They require practice on a regular basis to maintain them.

We would like to especially acknowledge the following for their generous support over the years:

Morinville Public Library
Pro-Ad Agency Ltd.

Sturgeon County Community Services
Sturgeon Learning Centre
Sturgeon School Division
Sunflower Resource Program

Literacy connects with health, individual well-being, justice, safer neighborhoods, and sustainable communities.

The following businesses have provided donations for the International Literacy Day Reading Challenge:

Goose Hummock Golf Course
Pizza Hut (St.Albert location)

Literacy is holistic.
